Hey guys!

I'm moving back to my old account, :icondasoro:. I'll be submitting stuff there in the future.

I've Been Tagged!

Mon May 12, 2008, 6:34 PM
Well, first things first. I have no more standardized tests, w00t! I took my last two today (for biology and physics), and my brain is half dead right now, but it's ok. Just, if anything sounds weird, it's because my brain cells have taken a beating today.
Alright, onto business! I've been tagged by :iconmorisaki: :).

RULES
1. Post these rules.
2. Each tagged person must post 8 things about yourself on your journal.
3. At the end, you have to choose and tag 8 people and post their icons on the same journal.
4. Go to their pages and send a message saying you tagged them.
5. No tag-backs.

Ok, 8 things about me:

1) I love ketchup. I'll eat practically anything with ketchup, from bread to noodles, pies, etc, but I'm not as eccentric as my friend, who eats chocolate with ketchup. I used to tease her so much about it back in junior high, lol. Hmm, maybe I should try. Please excuse me as I go and scavenge my house for a bottle of ketchup and a bar of chocolate.

2) My life is so low-tech, I'm behind everyone I know by five years regarding technology. I got this computer I'm using now back in 2003, and had the internet installed in my house for the first time in my life in 2004, when I was 14. I wanted a CD player when it first came out in 1999, and finally got one for my birthday when I was 15, and then people showed up in school with iPods a week after (and no, I don't have an iPod). Oh, and GameCube is the only game console I own, which I got when I was 14 (and lost interest after two months of hardcore gaming). The irony is that I'm going to be studying engineering in college and I'm a total technology n00b, lol.

3) In my spare time after school, I sit in a circle with my guy friends and play card games (no money involved!). We mostly play Lucky Bastard, but we also play Thirteen, Mao, Egyptian Ratscrew, Fruits Basket, or Name Switch(same as Fruits Basket, but everyone switches names). It's quite hilarious whenever we play Fruits Basket, because everyone is screaming the name of a fruit at each other. It's even more hectic when we play Name Switch, because we're yelling each other's names at people who don't have the name. Very fun.

4) I've never been out of the country before, and have been out of state for a total of...10 days of my life. If I could go traveling, I'd want to go to Shanghai China (that's where my ancestors are from!), Egypt, and several European countries (I don't know which ones, they're all so pretty!)

5) I have a dog who goes berserk from excitement when my dad comes home from work. I feed her pieces of leftover plain chicken from the table, and I play in the backyard with her every weekend.

6) Green and grey are my favorite colors. About 3/4 of the clothes I own are either green or grey, and the rest are mostly black, white, and blue. Somehow though, the two dresses I own are not any of the above colors: one is coral pink, the other is ivory.

7) I can't go swimming, because I have contact lenses and I don't want the water to wash them out or seep into my goggles. I can't take out my lenses and swim, because I can barely see without contacts/glasses (how that happened, I don't know. I don't play computer or video games, don't read as much, and don't watch as much TV as other people).

8) I play the clarinet, which I absolutely love! I was sad when I quit after 9th grade, but I've picked it back up! I play some classical music, and then spend the rest of my time trying to figure out how to play popular rock songs.

Yep, those are eight things about me. I'm not tagging anyone, but if you want to write an entry on eight things about yourself, go ahead! It's quite fun!

Turning 18

Wed Mar 12, 2008, 5:48 PM
Hello people!

Yeah, so I just turned 18 a few days ago (March 10). When my friends told me that I could finally get my driver's license and buy cigarettes and porn, I showed my ignorance by responding that I was more interested in watching rated-R movies (most notably, Sweeney Todd). I discovered that that was supposed to happen on my 17th birthday. People got kick out of my lack of sense, and I'm happy that I'm 18.

Except, this year my birthday was different. To my ultimate displeasure, and for the first time in my life, my birthday fell on a school day. For the past 11 years, my birthday always happened during spring break, and even though not many people attended any of my early birthday parties (I finally gave up when I turned 12 and realized that either everyone was on the other side of the world on a cruise ship or was attending a "funeral"), tests and quizzes and homework just didn't exist on my birthday. Well, because Texas legislature decided to make all the school districts start school three weeks late this year, thereby eating up a lot of our breaks and cutting short the time needed to learn material for the AP tests, my birthday landed on a school day. So I showed my cluelessness that day when I took my calc and physics quizzes.

There were some good things about having a birthday on a school day. People actually said happy birthday to me (although I think that Facebook also helped by notifying them a few days ahead), and I must say, the attention was kind of flattering. Apparently, my birthday was so obscure to people in years past that my best friend at my high school thought I was a June child, assuming that since I never celebrated or even mentioned my birthday during the school year, it probably occured during summer break. Some people, aside from finding out that I turned 18, found out that I was also a senior. More than one junior or sophomore basically flipped out when they discovered that I wasn't a sophomore or freshman. Sigh. According to people that haven't known me for a long time, I look like I'm 14 or 15. A friend of mine humorously suggested to me that it's because Asian women are like elves: They either don't age or age really slowly. Aside from all of that, I got some money from my parents (although I have no idea what I want to spend it on) and a really yummy ice cream cake. I love ice cream cake :).

So yeah, 18. It's also kind of sad when I think about it. If I'm lucky enough to live to 90, then 20% of my life has gone by! When I look back on the past years, they seem to have flown by, yet the present seems to move slowly. Whoever said that life is too short is too right.

I'm currently waiting to go to college and I've contracted a mild bit of sloth-inducing senioritis from my friends, lol, but at least it's not too serious. Even though I'm not sure where I'm going, and I'm waiting for acceptance/rejection letters from a few select colleges I've applied to, but I'm currently leaning towards the two schools I've been accepted to that are near my house. If I actually go to either one, then I can still live at home and save on dormitory fees! Plus, I can make sure that nothing inappropriate is going on if I do live at home. *Sigh* I just can't wait to graduate in June (another bummer from the Texas legislature, seniors of the past years graduated in May).

That's basically what's happening now in my life. Studying for AP tests, waiting for college admissions, applying for scholarships. Once summer break starts, or the APs are over, I'm going to start drawing again (and maybe post those drawings I've done during the year). My skills have gone down the drain XD .

Hope everyone's having a good time!

Moving In

Fri Nov 9, 2007, 8:01 PM
I have another account on dA, but a lot of people that know me also know of that account (can you say same AIM/DevArt screennames?), and it's really annoying. Especially the moronic and irrelevent comments they make about what I draw. And besides, I do not draw in that style anymore. So, this is my new account, free from other people's judgement except for what I draw.

I'm finally moving in :)
